Leah Frederick, RN, CLCPostpartum Doula, Founder & Owner

Since childhood Leah possessed a passion and fascination for Newborn, Child, and Women’s health. During college she worked by educating and supporting multiple families with newborn care and lactation support and continues to provide this same support today. She pursued her dream of helping mothers, infants, and children by obtaining a degree as a Registered Nurse specializing in maternal/child health as well as a certification in Lactation Counseling. She previously worked at Ochsner Medical Center on their Mother/Baby Unit, at St. David’s Medical Center in the Newborn Nursery and at OBGYN North – Natural Beginning Birth Center. Leah has been trained by DONA international as a labor doula to further her knowledge and experience to support expectant and new mothers with compassion and trust.
Throughout her professional career Leah found a strong need for additional support, assistance, and evidence based education from patients and friends regarding pregnancy, labor, breastfeeding support and care of the newborn. She desired to spend more time with her patients by providing in-home support through professional consulting. Leah also has two wonderful children of her own, Amelia and Ellis.

Leah keeps up-to-date on current research and prepares new and expectant mothers and fathers for their journey into parenthood through her warmth and genuine nature. She provides families just what they need to feel at ease with the changes a new baby brings. She has built an amazing team to help support, guide, educate, and empower families during pregnancy and beyond.

Alexandra McCall, RNOwner

Alexandra started her journey after receiving her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in New Orleans. She then started working in an Intensive Care Unit in Shreveport before moving across the country with her husband for training in Rochester, Minnesota at the Mayo Clinic. While working at Mayo she became passionate about educating others in health and nutrition and gained significant knowledge in these areas. She landed a job in the much sought after Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, and Transplant Intensive Care Unit where she grew to love her pediatric patients.

After a traumatic first pregnancy and delivery of her second, Alexandra combined the passion she had for education and helping others with her newfound interest in helping women throughout pregnancy, the fourth trimester, and the newborn stage. She took her extensive knowledge of newborn care and nursing in general and approached her childhood best friend, Leah, about helping the people of Baton Rouge. Alexandra and her husband Andrew moved back to Baton Rouge in 2018 with a new perspective on life and an overall more progressive and holistic approach to all aspects of it. She hopes to help bring Baton Rouge forward and is excited to see all the changes Baton Rouge has adapted since she has been gone.

Alexandra loves talking to pregnant women and new parents and assisting them in any way she can. She is eager to teach overall wellness and help build confidence in this population. She has one son, Ozzy and is currently pregnant and due in August.

Lactation Consultants

Abigail Kimbel BSN, RN, CLCLactation Consultant

Abigail Kimbel currently lives in Clinton, Louisiana. She is a registered nurse who graduated from Nicholls State University with her BSN in 2017. Before graduating, she worked as a Nurse Technician on the Mother/Baby Unit at Ochsner in Baton Rouge. Since becoming a nurse, she has worked on that very same unit. Her love of women’s and infant health began in high school when she shadowed a NICU Nurse Practitioner. After working for a year on Mother/Baby, she decided she wanted to help her breastfeeding patients more and started working on her International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by first achieving her Certification in Lactation Counseling (CLC).

She has a large family of three brothers and a sister, two parents, two crazy/lovable cats, a small dog, and a husband (of a year). Breastfeeding has always been a passion for Abigail, even in her years at college. For her undergraduate study, she researched the perceptions of breastfeeding and pumping in the workplace in the state of Louisiana. She plans to explore some of the aspects of that research further. Abigail is excited to provide further support for breastfeeding mothers in the Baton Rouge area!

Emily Hannaman CLC, IBCLCLactation Consultant

Emily is a CLC and IBCLC with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Michigan State University. She changed careers following her experience struggling to breastfeed her first child and finding guidance through a veteran IBCLC. She began working as a Lactation Consultant at Billings Clinic Hospital in the family birth center and outpatient lactation clinic. She feels honored to assist families from the first latch all the way to success in their breastfeeding goals.

Emily currently resides in Montana on a ranch with her husband and three children but is relocating to Baton Rouge this summer to be closer to family. She is sad to leave the wild adventures of ranch life behind but so excited to raise the fifth generation of Hannamans in Louisiana.

Lindsy Cordell, RN IBCLCLactation Consultant

Lindsy began her career with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from LSU in Elementary Education. After teaching for a year, she went to nursing school at Our Lady of the Lake graduating valedictorian in December of 2005. Lindsy worked for Our Lady of the Lake in the Cardiology departments including Cardiac Intensive Care for 7 years. She then moved to Woman’s Hospital in 2012 where she worked in Mother/Baby, Transition/Nursery, and Lactation. Lindsy achieved her CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) in January 2015, and IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in October 2018. Lindsy currently works as a pediatric phone triage nurse for the Medical Call Center and as a breastfeeding educator and consultant for Stork BR.

Kayla Lashay RNPostpartum Doula

Kayla is a native of Baton Rouge, La. She is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, where she received her bachelors degree in biology. In 2019, Kayla graduated from The Baton Rouge General School Of Nursing. She has 4 years of mother/baby experience. As a nursing student, Kayla was a nurse tech on the mother/baby unit at Woman’s Hospital. Currently, Kayla is a registered nurse, on the mother/baby unit, at Ochsner Medical Center of Baton Rouge. Kayla has a passion for women’s services with hopes to further her nursing career dedicating her work to women’s health.
